VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND SECTION 23-23-60(C)(3) OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO THE RENEWAL OF A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER'S CERTIFICATE, TO REQUIRE THE COMPLETION OF AN EIGHT-HOUR GENERAL TRAINING CONTINUING LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATION PROGRAM AS A CONDITION FOR RENEWAL.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 23-23-60(C)(3) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"(3) Prior to the expiration of the certificate, the certificate may be renewed upon application presented to the director on a form prescribed by the director, together with evidence satisfactory to the director that the law enforcement officer successfully completed an academy-approved, in-person, eight-hour general training continuing law enforcement education program. The application for renewal must be received by the director at least forty-five days prior to the expiration of the certificate."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect six months after approval by the Governor.
