VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF MICHAEL TRAVIS ANDERSON OF GREENWOOD COUNTY, TO CELEBRATE HIS LIFE AND ACHIEVEMENTS, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Travis Anderson, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the age of forty-three; and
Whereas, a resident of the Town of Ninety Six, Travis Anderson was born on April 6, 1978, in Bennettsville, the son of Hubert Gary Anderson, Jr., and Judy Clegg Anderson; and
Whereas, he graduated from Emerald High School in Greenwood and, in preparation for a career as a first responder and law enforcement officer, from the South Carolina Fire and Police Academies in Columbia; and
Whereas, a selfless public servant, Travis Anderson worked for more than fifteen years with the Greenwood City Police Department, attaining the rank of captain, and was also a captain for the Greenwood County Fire Services South District; and
Whereas, a leader among his peers, he served as board president of Greenwood County Fire Services South District and volunteered for the Greenwood County Fire Services in various departments from 1996 until 2021; and
Whereas, he further demonstrated his commitment to his professions by serving as a member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association and the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association; and
Whereas, loved by all who knew him, Travis Anderson leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kristin Ferrell Anderson; his son, Jayden Ferrell; and his sisters, Kathryn Anderson and Mary Elizabeth Anderson; and
Whereas, he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him, especially those with whom he worked and served beside to protect his community. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Michael Travis Anderson of Greenwood County, celebrate his life and achievements, and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Kristin Ferrell Anderson.
