VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR FORMER POLICE CHIEF SETH ZEIGLER UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CHAPIN POLICE DEPARTMENT, TO THANK HIM FOR HIS TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, for five years, the Town of Chapin enjoyed the benefit of the dedication, experience, and leadership of former Chapin Police Chief Seth Zeigler, who retired from his present post on November 19, 2021, after a quarter-century of distinguished service in law enforcement; and
Whereas, prior to taking up his duties as Chapin's police chief, Seth Zeigler served for many years with the West Columbia Police Department, launching his career there as a patrolman and working his way up to captain of its Patrol Division; and
Whereas, in 2016, this native of Chapin assumed command as his hometown's chief of police. In 2021, he concluded his law enforcement career in that position, having become a beloved friend to the town; and
Whereas, Mayor David Knight of Chapin had these words of praise for Seth Zeigler: "Chief Ziegler is a respected officer and tremendous leader. I have relied on his sound advice and counsel throughout my tenure as mayor. Seth has been an esteemed colleague at town hall and a shining example of leadership in our community"; and
Whereas, in preparation for his life's work, Seth Zeigler earned an associate degree in criminal justice at Spartanburg Methodist College, followed by Class One Law Enforcement Certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia. In addition, he is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 235 at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Oklahoma; and
Whereas, on the occasion of his retirement, Seth Zeigler's colleagues and friends gathered to honor him at a celebratory event, held Friday, November 19, 2021; and
Whereas, looking forward to spending more time with his family, he will transition into a part-time job in the private sector; and
Whereas, the General Assembly, grateful for the legacy of consistent commitment and excellence Seth Zeigler has bestowed on this great State, takes great pleasure in wishing him well as he enters retirement and trusts he will find much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate and honor former Police Chief Seth Zeigler upon the occasion of his retirement from the Chapin Police Department, thank him for his twenty-five years of outstanding service in law enforcement, and wish him continued success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Seth Zeigler.
