VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO HONOR THE SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM AND COACHES ON THEIR IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2021 CLASS AA LOWER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO CONGRATULATE HEAD COACH WILLIE DE'ANGELO BRYANT ON BEING NAMED REGION 5-AA COACH OF THE YEAR.
Whereas, the Silver Bluff Bulldogs clinched the Class AA Lower State Football Championship, defeating Barnwell 42-35, on Friday, November 26, 2021; and
Whereas, Head Coach Willie De'Angelo Bryant, who watched with great pride as his players claimed lower state dominance, was himself sporting a new title: Region 5-AA Coach of the Year; and
Whereas, the scene of this well-earned triumph was Silver Bluff's own football field. As the Silver Bluff Bulldogs and Barnwell Warhorses exchanged scores throughout the lower state championship bout, the traditional rivalry game lived up to the hype. The Bulldogs, however, sealed the game on a fourth down and one conversion run by Nicholas Brown in the fourth quarter; and
Whereas, making a sweet season even sweeter, several Silver Bluff players earned various honors: Maleik Williams, Region 5-AA Offensive Player of the Year; Corey Heath, Region 5-AA Offensive Lineman of the Year; Jaden McLeod, Region 5-AA Defensive Lineman of the Year; and Silver Bluff's players tapped for the Class AA All-State Team, Jaden McLeod, Connor Barton, Maleik Williams, Trae'Von Dunbar, and Corey Heath; and
Whereas, by season's end, Head Coach Bryant, his fine staff, and the entire team saw all their hard work and determination pay off; and
Whereas, the members of the Silver Bluff football team have given their school and community reason to be proud of their accomplishments, and the House takes great pleasure in adding its collective voice to the encomiums flowing in to this outstanding group of young athletes and amazing coaches. Go, Bulldogs! Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor the Silver Bluff High School football team and coaches on their impressive win of the 2021 Class AA Lower State Championship title and congratulate Head Coach Willie De'Angelo Bryant on being named Region 5-AA Coach of the Year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Katie Briscoe, principal, and Head Coach Willie De'Angelo Bryant of Silver Bluff High School.
