VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO PROVIDE THAT THE GOVERNING BODY OF A SCHOOL DISTRICT SHALL EXCUSE FIVE DAYS OF SCHOOL THAT A STUDENT MISSES IN A SCHOOL YEAR DUE TO TESTING POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 OR BEING QUARANTINED BECAUSE OF EXPOSURE TO COVID-19, AND TO MAKE THE PROVISIONS OF THIS JOINT RESOLUTION APPLICABLE TO THE 2021-2022 AND 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEARS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Chapter 65, Title 59 or another provision of law, the governing body of a school district shall excuse five days of school that a student misses in a school year due to testing positive for Covid-19 or being quarantined because of exposure to Covid-19. The provisions of this joint resolution are applicable to the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 School Years.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
