A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR ALICE BAILEY NORRIS FOR HER OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A LIBRARY PARAPROFESSIONAL AND TO CONGRATULATE HER ON BEING NAMED THE 2021-2022 SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL LIBRARIANS LIBRARY PARAPROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Alice Bailey Norris has been selected to receive the South Carolina Association of School Librarians (SCASL) Library Paraprofessional of the Year award for 2021-2022; and

Whereas, this coveted honor recognizes the exemplary performance of a paraprofessional who directly supports the library media profession. The SCASL will present Alice with this award on March 10, 2022, at the annual SCASL conference in Myrtle Beach; and

Whereas, a library media assistant at Sumter High School, Alice was chosen from among other library paraprofessionals across the State. She has worked at Sumter High School for the past seven years, where she is a vital part of the Sumter High School Library and helps make the library program a success; and

Whereas, Alice was nominated by Sumter High's school librarian, Ronda Speed, who praised Alice for the pride she takes in her job and her consistent willingness to help and to learn new things. In addition, Alice's nomination packet included tributes from students, teachers, and administrators; and

Whereas, grateful for the exceptional service Alice Bailey Norris provides to Sumter High School's library program, the House takes great pleasure in saluting her on receiving this well-deserved award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Alice Bailey Norris for her outstanding service as a library paraprofessional and congratulate her on being named the 2021-2022 South Carolina Association of School Librarians Library Paraprofessional of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Alice Bailey Norris.
