VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE TO CEASE OPERATIONS AND CLOSE ITS OFFICE LOCATED IN SHANGHAI, CHINA, AND TO CONSOLIDATE THE SHANGHAI OFFICE WITH THE OFFICE LOCATED IN TAIWAN, AND TO PROHIBIT THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE FROM OPERATING ANY BUSINESS LOCATION WITHIN MAINLAND CHINA.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. (A) The Department of Commerce shall cease operations and close its office located in Shanghai, China. All operations in the Shanghai office must be transferred to and consolidated in the Department of Commerce's office located in Taiwan. If requested, the Department of Administration shall assist the Department of Commerce in consolidating the offices.
(B) Further, the Department of Commerce may not establish, maintain, or operate any business location within Mainland China.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect thirty days after approval by the Governor.
