VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CELEBRATE THE SPARTANBURG DAY SCHOOL BOYS GOLF TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM ON CAPTURING THE SCHOOL'S FIRST SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, April 26, 2022, was a red-letter day for the members of the Spartanburg Day School (SDS) boys golf team. It was the day the Griffins climbed to the top of the mountain and earned the title of South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) state champions in Class 2A golf; and
Whereas, held at the General Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University, the Griffins' win brought the school its first state golf title in school history; and
Whereas, Head Coach Kyle Milner watched with pride as his well-trained athletes were declared state champions; and
Whereas, on its journey to compete for the state championship, the SDS team won its second region championship in two years. Junior Hugh Converse took home region medalist honors, while six players were named All-Region; and
Whereas, at the two-day state competition, the team finished the first day tied for first at 314. Day two provided some early fireworks, leading sophomore Granger Amick, junior Houston Johnson, and freshman Carter Boyd to carry the team on their backs, which helped deliver the biggest prize in South Carolina high school golf to SDS; and
Whereas, it is with immense pleasure that the South Carolina House recognizes the accomplishments and dedication of these fine athletes and their coaches and salutes them on their success. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the Spartanburg Day School boys golf team for an outstanding season and congratulate the team on capturing the school's first South Carolina Independent School Association Class 2A State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of School Rachel Stevens Deems and Head Coach Kyle Milner of Spartanburg Day School.
