VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE JAN PIERSOL UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NEWBERRY HOUSING AUTHORITY, TO COMMEND HER FOR HER THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS TO COME.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to recognize Jan Piersol upon the occasion of her retirement on February 26, 2021; and
Whereas, Jan Piersol is an alumna of Piedmont Technical College, where she earned an associate's degree in human services. She has also received a number of certifications and trainings, including a Public Housing Manager Certification through the University of Georgia's Human Services Certification Program; and
Whereas, during her career with the Newberry Housing Authority, Jan Piersol worked to better serve those in need of decent, safe, and sanitary housing and a good community in which to reside. Over the years, she served the authority as public housing manager, in the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, and as executive director; and
Whereas, prior to her career with the Newberry Housing Authority, Jan worked as a site manager for the Newberry County Council on Aging, sales and marketing representative for Senn Trucking Company, and accounting representative for Maxwell Furniture Company; and
Whereas, a leader in her profession, she has served as annual conference chair for the Carolinas Council of Housing, Redevelopment and Codes Officials and has been active with the Hospitality Committee and Professional Development Committee for the Southeastern Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials; and
Whereas, in her free time, Jan enjoys gardening, reading, singing, and spending time with family and friends. She is also very active in her church; and
Whereas, the General Assembly is grateful for the passion, commitment, and dedication that this daughter of South Carolina has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Jan Piersol upon the occasion of her retirement as executive director of the Newberry Housing Authority, commend her for her thirty-eight years of distinguished public service, and wish her much happiness and fulfillment in the years to come.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Jan Piersol.
