TO CONGRATULATE JOHNNY M. GARDNER, JR. ON THE OCCASION OF HIS EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HIM A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to learn that Johnny M. Gardner, Jr. will celebrate this important milestone on June 3, 2022; and
Whereas, a native of Kingstree, Mr. Gardner was born on June 3, 1942 to parents Matthew and Carrie Gardner. He had three siblings, two of which have passed away. He is a graduate of Tomlinson High School; and
Whereas, a veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Gardner served his country in the military before graduating from South Carolina State College and becoming an educator; and
Whereas, Mr. Gardner worked for thirty-seven years as an educator in the Williamsburg County School District, where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of young people in the county; and
Whereas, a civic leader, Mr. Gardner is a fifty-year member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and a brother that lives by the cardinal principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift. He has served sixteen years on the Williamsburg Technical College Board of Commissioners and is currently the chairman; and
Whereas, a devout Christian, Mr. Gardner is a member of Siloam Missionary Baptist Church, where he currently serves as chairman of the Trustee Ministry; and
Whereas, Mr. Gardner is married to Stiney Gardner, and together, they have one son, Stephen, who is married to Nicole Gardner; two granddaughters, Jahmia and Courtney; and one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn, who has him wrapped around her finger; and
Whereas, Mr. Gardner is affectionately known as the King of Pinochle; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate takes great pleasure in honoring this son of South Carolina at the celebration of his eightieth birthday and is pleased to join with his family and friends in congratulating him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Johnny M. Gardner, Jr. on the occasion of his eightieth birthday and wish him a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the days ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Johnny M. Gardner, Jr.
