TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO THE LOVING FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF BEULAH MAE MCDOWELL OF GREENVILLE COUNTY UPON HER PASSING AND TO EXPRESS TO THEM THEIR PROFOUND SORROW.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were saddened to learn of the passing of Beulah Mae McDowell of Simpsonville from this world to join God at the age of one hundred on Saturday, June 18, 2022; and
Whereas, born in Greenville on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Willie Frank Boyd and Willie Mae Cleveland Boyd; and
Whereas, Mrs. McDowell was reared in a loving home, and she has two siblings left to cherish her memory: William "Billy" Boyd of Laurens and Charlotte Thomas of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and
Whereas, she was blessed with two fine sons, Leonard McDowell and Michael McDowell, both of Greenville, and with four fine daughters: Sadie Chapman of Mauldin, Brenda McDowell of Greenville, Sandra Copeland of Simpsonville, and Dorothy Wallace of Mauldin; and
Whereas, Mrs. McDowell's children added to her blessings the affection of twelve adoring grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren. She also delighted in an adopted granddaughter, Tomeka Payton of Simpsonville; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate value the life and legacy of Beulah Mae McDowell as a shining example for all who knew her in the pattern of service and kindness she set for them. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, extend their deepest sympathy to the loving family and many friends of Beulah Mae McDowell of Greenville County upon her passing and express to them their profound sorrow.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Beulah Mae McDowell.
