TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 23-1-250 SO AS TO PROVIDE IT IS UNLAWFUL FOR A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OR PARAMEDIC TO INJECT KETAMINE INTO A CRIMINAL SUSPECT AS A MEANS TO INCAPACITATE HIM.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 23 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 23-1-250. It is unlawful for a law enforcement officer or a paramedic to inject the drug ketamine into a criminal suspect as a means to incapacitate him."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
