TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE INTERSECTION LOCATED AT THE JUNCTION OF INTERNATIONAL BOULEVARD AND WEST MONTAGUE AVENUE IN THE CITY OF NORTH CHARLESTON "ROBERT N. KING, SR. INTERSECTION" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS LOCATION CONTAINING THESE WORDS.
Whereas, the Honorable Robert N. King, Sr., is a graduate of North Charleston High School and The Citadel; and
Whereas, currently he is a member of the North Charleston City Council and previously has served as a member of the Charleston County Council; and
Whereas, Mr. King's past public service also includes North Charleston Municipal Court judge and Charleston County Register of Deeds; and
Whereas, he is past chairman of the Heritage Trust Credit Union Board of Directors; a member of the MEAD Westvaco Citizens Advisory Committee; and past president of the Charleston Chapter of the Association of United States Army, North Charleston Jaycees, North Charleston Exchange Club, and National Association of County Recorders and Clerks of Court; and
Whereas, Mr. King is a member of North Charleston United Methodist Church; and
Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to recognize the many civic and humanitarian contributions Mr. Robert N. King, Sr., has made to the City of North Charleston, Charleston County, and the State of South Carolina by naming an intersection in the City of North Charleston in his honor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, request the Department of Transportation name the intersection located at the junction of International Boulevard and West Montague Avenue in the City of North Charleston "Robert N. King, Sr. Intersection" and erect appropriate markers or signs at this location containing these words.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
