TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF WILLIAM EDWARD "ED" MCNEILL, JR., CHIEF OF THE CAMPOBELLO FIRE DEPARTMENT, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of William Edward "Ed" McNeill, Jr., chief of the Campobello Fire Department, on March 4, 2021, at the age of sixty-nine; and
Whereas, the son of the late William Edward McNeill, Sr., and the late Nora Lee McNeill, Chief McNeill was a man of faith who served his Lord as a member of Campobello First Baptist Church; and
Whereas, in addition, this patriotic American served his country proudly and was a veteran of the Army National Guard; and
Whereas, honored as a dedicated servant to his community, Chief McNeill for forty-four years was a member of the Campobello Fire Department, where he served as fire chief for a quarter century, until his sudden passing; and
Whereas, he was known for his compassion for others and his kind, strong example of leadership; and
Whereas, the loves of his life were his seven grandchildren, who were his "bestest friends and ever"; and
Whereas, Chief McNeill leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Quinn McNeill; his two sons, Chad McNeill (Erin) and Brandon McNeill (Joy); his daughter, Melissa Boone (Ryan); his seven grandchildren, Adam, Anslee, Addi, Mason, Maddox, Ryleigh, and Ryder; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of William Edward "Ed" McNeill, Jr., chief of the Campobello Fire Department, and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Shirley Ann Quinn McNeill for the family.
