TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR BRIGADIER GENERAL MILFORD H. "BEAGS" BEAGLE, JR., THE FIFTY-FIRST COMMANDING GENERAL OF FORT JACKSON AND THE U.S. ARMY TRAINING CENTER IN COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA, UPON HIS REASSIGNMENT TO FORT DRUM IN NEW YORK AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to recognize and honor Brigadier General Milford H. "Beags" Beagle, Jr., the fifty-first commanding general of Fort Jackson and the U.S. Army Training Center in Columbia, South Carolina; and
Whereas, General Beagle assumed his duties at Fort Jackson on June 22, 2018, after serving as deputy commanding general for Support, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, New York; and
Whereas, a native of Enoree, General Beagle commissioned into the infantry after completing his degree at South Carolina State University as a distinguished military graduate. He has led and commanded troops at every echelon from platoon to brigade. He has soldiered with five regiments, the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), 6th Infantry, 9th Infantry, 35th Infantry, and 41st Infantry Regiment, and with five divisions, the 2nd Infantry Division, 2nd Armored Division, 5th Infantry Division, 10th Mountain Division (Light), and 25th Infantry Division; and
Whereas, his key staff assignments include service as a planner and operations officer at battalion and brigade level and as Chief Plans Branch, G3, Eighth Army, Republic of Korea. On the joint and Army staff, he served as joint strategic planner and later executive assistant to the director, J-7, as well as division chief, J-5, Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization. On the Army staff, he served as executive officer to the vice chief of staff of the Army; and
Whereas, General Beagle's combat and operational experience includes Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq; Operation Inherent Resolve, Iraq; and Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan; and
Whereas, he holds master's degrees from both Kansas State University and the United States Army School of Advanced Military Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; and
Whereas, over the years, he has received a number of awards, including the Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Ranger Tab, Pathfinder Badge, and Army Joint Staff Identification Badge; and
Whereas, General Beagle and his wife are the proud parents of two children, one an Army lieutenant and the other a university student; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the years of service that General Beagle has devoted to Fort Jackson and wish him many years of enjoyment in his next endeavor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Brigadier General Milford H. "Beags" Beagle, Jr., the fifty-first commanding general of Fort Jackson and the U.S. Army Training Center in Columbia, South Carolina, upon his reassignment to Fort Drum in New York and wish him continued success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to General Beagle.
