TO REMEMBER AND CELEBRATE THE LIFE OF CARLY MICHELLE PROSSER OF AIKEN COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO HER LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Carly Michelle Prosser at the age of nine at her home in Graniteville on Tuesday, May 18, 2021; and
Whereas, born in Aiken on January 12, 2012, Carly was the daughter of Terry and Amy Prosser and the beloved sister of Ansley and was dearly loved and attended by her dog, Remi; and
Whereas, Carly was only the thirteenth child in the world born with a rare genetic mutation called Microcephaly-Capillary Malformation Syndrome, which caused her to suffer from infantile spasms and intractable epilepsy and never allowed her to progress beyond three months of age developmentally, and which finally claimed her life; and
Whereas, with her family, Carly often traveled to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, for her ongoing care where many of those who attended her became a loving second family; and
Whereas, although she had never spoken a word, she reached the lives of people all over the world, and the gift she was and the journey she traveled will continue to be shared through the lives of her family, friends, and community; and
Whereas, in addition to her parents and sister, Carly had the devoted love of her grandparents Vicky and Rickey Carter; Jo and Terry Prosser, Sr.; and LuAnne and Peyton Northington; and
Whereas, she also leaves many aunts and uncles to cherish her memory: Julie and Brian Knight, Sarah and Zane Prosser, Shannon and Josh Pulfrey, Marlie Prosser, Shelby and Stephanie Northington, Sarah and William Northington, and Chad and Ashley Cato; and
Whereas, a host of cousins loved Carly: Victoria Knight; Blane and Austyn Prosser; Landon and Sophie Pulfrey; Reese, Eli, and Wyatt Northington; and Law Cato. Her special friends and family include Kayla and Jonathan Prosser, as well as Case and Canaan, and Dana and Bill Defenbaugh, as well as Minelle; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great comfort, along with her family, in knowing that when Carly reached Heaven her sight was restored and that Jesus was the first face she saw, and the members are grateful for her life and for the joy and tenderness she brought to all who knew her. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, remember and celebrate the life of Carly Michelle Prosser of Aiken County and extend their deepest sympathy to her large and loving family and her many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carly Michelle Prosser.
