TO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF ESSIE LEE KING OF GEORGIA AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, many were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Essie Lee King of Georgia on November 18, 2021, at the venerable age of eighty-seven; and
Whereas, born in Tignall, Georgia, on October 4, 1934, Mrs. King came into this world as the second-youngest of eight children born to Lem and Ollie Garnett Easley; and
Whereas, on June 9, 1963, the young Essie wed Willie King, the Lord blessing their union with four children. She was a faithful church member who loved her Shady Grove Church family and her husband's Hillard Station Church family. An active member on the ward and kitchen committees, she often would sing "notes" in the church with her sister Eliza Easley; and
Whereas, during her lifetime, she earned the love and friendship of all those with whom she came in contact. She will be remembered as having the most positive attitude and joyful smile, as well as for ending most interactions with "You have a good ol' blessed day"; and
Whereas, Essie Lee King's departure into her new heavenly home reunites her with her husband, Willie Robert King; her oldest son, Robert King; her parents; and three siblings, Elease Easley, Carmeal Franklin, and Eliza Easley. Mrs. King leaves to cherish her memory her remaining three sons, Earnest King (Angie) of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Joseph King (Kimberly) of Norcross, Georgia, and Stevie King (Mei Ching) of Honolulu, Hawaii; two sisters, Eunice Willis of Atlanta, Georgia, and Eva Brown of the Bronx in New York City; two brothers, Lem Easley of the Bronx in New York City and the Reverend Henry Tate Easley (Jacqueline) of Tignall, Georgia; one brother-in-law, James King (Charlie Mae) of Washington, Georgia; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other family members and close friends. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Essie Lee King of Georgia and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Essie Lee King.
