TO HONOR SERGEANT MAJOR ANTHONY N. PAGE OF MARINE AIRCRAFT GROUP 39 FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY AND TO OFFER BEST WISHES FOR A LONG AND FULFILLING RETIREMENT.
Whereas, Sergeant Major Anthony N. Page of Marine Aircraft Group 39 soon will retire from a distinguished thirty-year career in the United States Marine Corps; and
Whereas, Sergeant Major Page entered the Marine Corps in 1992 and, having completed recruit training at Parris Island, South Carolina, he attended the Basic Supply Warehouse Course at Marine Corps Base Albany, Georgia. In 1993, Lance Corporal Page was assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While stationed there, he deployed in support of Operation Deny Flight over Bosnia. In 1994, he was meritoriously promoted to corporal; and
Whereas, also in 1994, Corporal Page was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for six months. About three years later, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and in 1998 he received orders to Recruiter's School in San Diego, California. Upon completion of this school, he was assigned to Recruiting Station Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he served as a canvassing recruiter; and
Whereas, meritoriously promoted to staff sergeant in 2000, in October of that same year he was selected as Recruiter of the Year for the Marine Corps and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of gunnery sergeant. In early 2002, Gunnery Sergeant Page was assigned to Camp Lejeune, where he served as the shipping staff noncommissioned officer-in-charge. A few months later, he was assigned to Headquarters Company and Service Battalion as the company gunnery sergeant. In 2003, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I; and
Whereas, in later 2003, he became a first sergeant. Immediately following selection, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division. During this tour in 2004, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom II as the Kilo Company first sergeant for a period of seven months. In 2005, while serving as Headquarters and Service Company first sergeant, he deployed to Iraq in support of OIF III; and
Whereas, in 2006, First Sergeant Page was assigned as the inspector/instructor first sergeant, Company F, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in Eastover, South Carolina. Promoted to the rank of sergeant major in 2009, he served as the sergeant major of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367 (HMLA-367) aboard Camp Pendleton, California, prior to being transferred to Recruiting Station Columbia, South Carolina; and
Whereas, he served in Columbia as the station's sergeant major for about two years before being assigned as sergeant major for 6th Marine Corps District in Parris Island. In 2019, he assumed his current billet as sergeant major of Marine Aircraft Group 39; and
Whereas, in recognition of his outstanding service, Sergeant Major Page has been awarded numerous honors, among them the Meritorious Service Medal (third award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (fourth award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (third award), and Combat Action Ribbon; and
Whereas, grateful for his invaluable contributions to the United States military, the members of the South Carolina House are pleased to salute Sergeant Major Anthony N. Page for his three decades of dedicated service to this country and wish him a satisfying, enjoyable retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Sergeant Major Anthony N. Page of Marine Aircraft Group 39 for his many years of exemplary service to this great country and offer best wishes for a long and fulfilling retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Sergeant Major Anthony N. Page.
