A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CELEBRATE THE BEN LIPPEN SCHOOL VARSITY COMPETITIVE CHEERLEADING TEAM ON CAPTURING THE 2021 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM AND ITS COACHES ON A SCINTILLATING SEASON.

Whereas, having taken home three state cheer titles in five years, the Ben Lippen School varsity competitive cheerleading team is no stranger to the art of winning high honors. On November 13, the Lady Falcons resolved that they would not leave the 2021 championship competition without the hardware, and they proved themselves worthy of it; and

Whereas, soaring above a strong Trinity Collegiate team, Ben Lippen's top-flight athletes finished with a score of 273 to Trinity's 267; and

Whereas, the North Charleston Athletic Center, site of the title competition, has seldom seen such a magnificent display of excellence as was demonstrated that day by the graceful Lady Falcons; and

Whereas, multiple-title-winning Head Coach Ellen Jennings, with the outstanding support of Assistant Coaches Beth Bearden and Cory Karl, urged the Lady Falcons to greater and greater effort toward achieving their very best performance. As a result, all of these dedicated coaches were well rewarded as Ben Lippen was proclaimed the 2021 champion; and

Whereas, making a sweet season even sweeter, senior Isabel Gray was named Most Valuable Player, senior Grace Kepley was tapped for the Coaches Award, and junior Margaret Long was granted the Christian Character Award; and

Whereas, further, during their competitive season, the Lady Falcons provided outreach to the homeless community through First Baptist Church by supplying nearly one hundred personal-care bags for their use; and

Whereas, proud of the accomplishments of the Ben Lippen School competitive cheerleading team, the members of the General Assembly are delighted to profess themselves among the many fans of these fine athletes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, celebrate the Ben Lippen School varsity competitive cheerleading team on capturing the 2021 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 3A State Championship title and congratulate the team and its coaches on a scintillating season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Max Russell and Head Coach Ellen Jennings of Ben Lippen School.
