TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE PORTION OF HIGHWAY 701 IN CONWAY, BETWEEN SOUTH CONWAY ELEMENTARY AND PITCH LANDING ROAD, THE "FREDDY E. HENDRICK HIGHWAY" AND TO ERECT APPROPRIATE SIGNS OR MARKERS ALONG THIS PORTION OF HIGHWAY CONTAINING THESE WORDS.
Whereas, Mr. Freddy E. Hendrick, the son of the late John Mark and Anna Belle Hucks Hendrick, was born in Conway; and
Whereas, Mr. Hendrick was employed by AVX in Myrtle Beach for forty-one years as a Senior Engineer Technician; and
Whereas, he was an award-winning photographer who loved taking pictures for High Stepping Country and Carolina Forest Show Choirs, and had his work displayed at EPCOT in Walt Disney World and published in South Carolina Wildlife Magazine. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, request the Department of Transportation name the portion Highway 701 in Conway, between South Conway Elementary and Pitch Landing Road, the "Freddy E. Hendrick Highway" and erect appropriate signs or markers along this portion of highway containing these words.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
