A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE Terry A. Blackmon, R.Ph. UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS many YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Terry A. Blackmon, R.Ph. upon the occasion of his retirement from the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy; and

 

Whereas, a native of South Carolina, Mr. Blackmon is an alumnus of the Medical University of South Carolina where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Blackmon began his career as a pharmacist with Revco, then Price Wise Pharmacy. He was co-owner and business partner of Community Pharmacy in Turbeville. He is the president, owner, and pharmacist-in-charge of the Medicine Cabinet of Lake City; and

 

Whereas, a leader in his profession, Mr. Blackmon has built his career on "The Golden Rule" and has made it his goal to offer his patients the best pharmacy care. Along with prescriptions, health care products, and health information, he administers immunizations and provides Medication Therapy Management; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Blackmon represents the sixth Congressional District and serves on the board of directors for The South Carolina Pharmacy Foundation through The South Carolina Pharmacy Association, of which he is a vested member and has served as past chairman. He has served on the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy for twelve years; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Blackmon has served on various committees including serving as Pee Dee Region delegate in the House of Delegates, speaker elect of the House of Delegates and speaker of the House of Delegates, vice president, president, and chairman of the board and past president. He has chaired the Legislative, Convention, and Awards Committees of The South Carolina Pharmacy Association. He has also served as past chairman of The Building Leadership Committee, vice chairman of the board of directors of The Carolina Pharmacy Network, and co-chair of The Practice and Technology Committee through the Board of Pharmacy; and

 

Whereas, he is a life member and past president of the MUSC Pharmacy Alumni Association and is past president of the Joint MUSC Alumni Association Board of Directors; and

 

Whereas, on a national level, Mr. Blackmon is a member of Kappa Psi, alumni member of Beta Chi Chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society, the National Community Pharmacists Associations, and the American Pharmacists Association, where he has served as a delegate to the House of Delegates; and

 

Whereas, over the years, Mr. Blackmon has received a number of honors and awards, including the Bowl of Hygeia, the most widely recognized international symbol for the pharmacy profession and one of the profession's most prestigious awards. In 2015, he was name Pharmacist of the Year by the South Carolina Pharmacy Association; and

 

Whereas, a devout Christian, he is a member of Olanta Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, trustee, and the church moderator; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Blackmon has been married to Cynthia since 1980, and together, they have a daughter, Erin B. Stelling, PharmD, MBA, who has followed in her father's footsteps as a pharmacist and recently joined him a The Medicine Cabinet. He also has one granddaughter; and

 

Whereas, in his free time, he enjoys fishing and the outdoors, church, civic and community activities, classic muscle car restoration, family time, travel, and the beach; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that Mr. Blackmon has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Terry A. Blackmon, R.Ph. upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for his many years of dedicated service, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Terry A. Blackmon, R.Ph.
