A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Mayor Rick Osbon for his service to the city of aiken and to commend him for his many years of service in aiken county.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Mayor Rick Osbon for his service to the city of Aiken; and

 

Whereas, a native of Aiken, Mayor Osbon graduated from Aiken High School and is a 1993 graduate of USC-Aiken with a degree in business administration; and

 

Whereas, a lifetime resident and third generation family business owner in Aiken, Mayor Osbon owns and operates the family business, Osbon's Dry Cleaners, which his father and grandfather started together in 1948; and

 

Whereas, Mayor Osbon was elected and served on the Aiken County Council from 1996 until 2004, where he learned to effectively navigate the local government and built a strong record as a fiscal conservative who stands up for his principles while working with others to reach consensus. He served four of his eight years as the council's vice chairman; and

 

Whereas, Mayor Osbon served the city of Aiken for two terms, from 2015-2023. Under his leadership, Aiken was recognized as "the Best Small Town in the South" by Southern Living Magazine and received a Municipal Achievement Award for the innovative Hitchcock Woods Stormwater project. During his tenure, the city completed multiple park improvement projects and upgrades to roads, water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure. In addition, Mayor Osbon worked with the private sector to assist small businesses with challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic; and

 

Whereas, in addition to his leadership and service to the city of Aiken as mayor, Mayor Osbon was elected by his peers statewide to serve as president of the South Carolina Municipal Association for the 2022-2023 year; and

 

Whereas, Mayor Osbon is married to Angie Osbon, and together, they have three children, Reagan, Gemma, and Sterling; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that Mayor Osbon has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor Mayor Rick Osbon for his service to the city of Aiken and commend him for his many years of service in Aiken County.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mayor Rick Osbon.
