A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO EXPRESS PROFOUND SORROW UPON THE PASSING OF Kenneth Arthur "K.C." Campbell, Jr. AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth Arthur "K.C." Campbell Jr. on June 6, 2024; and

 

Whereas, a native of Salem, Massachusetts, Mr. Campbell was born on July 17, 1957 to parents Kenneth Arthur Campbell Sr. and Dorothy Ann MacMaster Campbell. He was an alumnus of Ohio State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1979 and his law degree in 1982; and

 

Whereas, while working undercover security at Kings Island Amusement Park, Mr. Campbell met his wife and mother of his children, Shelly Pflum Campbell. He then moved to South Carolina and passed the Ohio and South Carolina Bar; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Campbell began his law career in Walterboro in 1983. He loved serving his community and friends, and he never wanted to stop. Beginning in 1989, he diligently served as a Colleton County Magistrate; and

 

Whereas, a civic leader, Mr. Campbell served with many community organizations, including serving as a member of the Elks Lodge and serving on the board of the Colleton Preparatory Academy for over fifteen years. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity; and

 

Whereas, in his free time, Mr. Campbell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends playing many games including golf, his "Backyard Olympics," and his prized Golden Tee. He wanted everyone to feel loved and be happy, and he was happiest entertaining friends at parties. He loved cooking, and his specialties were Cincinnati chili, lemon chicken, BBQ, and especially his homemade sauces. He loved snake hunting with his son, fishing with his grandchildren, shopping with his daughters on Christmas Eve, being on his boat on the Ashepoo, and taking trips to Edisto and Disney World with his grandchildren; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his first nephew, Ryan Campbell; and his close friends, Randy Peters and John Waddell; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Campbell leaves to cherish his memory his fiancĂ©, Letha Polk; his oldest daughter, Dorothy Eileen Campbell Burke (Packy); and her children, Campbell Theodore "Camp" Burke, Fitzpatrick Anderson "Fitz" Burke, and Beaumont William "Beau" Burke; his only son, Kenneth Arthur "K.C." Campbell III (Bray); and his children, Bryar Kenneth Campbell and Kallen Arthur Campbell; and his baby daughter, Eleanor Grace "Ellie" Murray (Patrick); his granddaughter, Violet Ann Murray; his siblings, Lorraine (Brian) Moore, Kevin (Martha) Campbell, Colin Campbell, Donald (Kathy) Campbell, and Amy Campbell Kelly; as well as his many nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be greatly missed.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Kenneth Arthur "K.C." Campbell Jr.  and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kenneth Arthur "K.C." Campbell Jr.
