A senate RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE Mae Frances Mason Stevenson ON THE OCCASION OF HER eightieth BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to learn that Mae Frances Mason Stevenson will celebrate this important milestone on July 26, 2024; and
Whereas, Ms. Stevenson was born on July 24, 1944 to parents Bishop Joseph Mason and Minister Sarah Mason. She is a graduate of Palmetto High School and an alumna of Allen University; and
Whereas, Ms. Stevenson spent eight years working as co-owner and operator of Stevenson Produce Farm, three years as a substitute teacher for Marion School District 3, two years as an eighth-grade reading teacher for Palmetto Junior High School, and twenty-one years as a second-grade remedial reading teacher for North Mullins Primary School. She retired after twenty-three years of state service in 2012; and
Whereas, a devout Christian, she has been a member of St James AME Church, where she served as director of the Little Angels Choir, and Pleasant Grove Holiness Church; and
Whereas, Ms. Stevenson has three children, Deon (Roosevelt) Legette, Andre (Nondumiso) Stevenson, and Anthony Stevenson; and two grandchildren, Kimberly (Kelvin) Washington and Joshua Malik Legette; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate takes great pleasure in honoring this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her eightieth birthday and is pleased to join with her family and friends in congratulating her. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mae Frances Mason Stevenson on the occasion of her eightieth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the days ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mae Frances Mason Stevenson.
