A house RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF Eleanor Anne Thompson Wideman OF GREENWOOD COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives was saddened to learn of the death of Eleanor Anne Thompson Wideman at the age of eighty-nine on Monday, January 16, 2023; and
Whereas, born in Greenwood on September 14, 1933, she was reared in a loving home by her parents, the late Claude Cleveland and Verma Palmer Thompson, along with her sister, the late Ruth Phillips, and her brother, the late Cleve Thompson; and
Whereas, together with her beloved husband, Frank Marion Wideman, Jr., she reared two fine children: a son, Dan Wideman, and a daughter, Porter Palmer, and
Whereas, a lifelong member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church and of the United Methodist Women's Hannah Circle, she retired from her employment at Park Seed Company; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of Eleanor Wideman and for the example of sacrifice and kindness she set for all who knew her. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Eleanor Anne Thompson Wideman of Greenwood County and extend their deepest sympathy to her large and loving family and her many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to her son, Dan Wideman.
