A concurrent RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE KEVIN PENDERGRASS OF MYRTLE BEACH ON BEING SELECTED AS THE 2022-2023 CAROLINAS INDEPENDENT AUTOMOBILE DEALERS ASSOCIATION QUALITY DEALER OF THE YEAR.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to learn that Kevin Pendergrass was named the 2022-2023 Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association (CIADA) Quality Dealer of the Year; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Pendergrass will be considered for the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) National Quality Dealer of The Year at its June 2023 annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada; and

 

Whereas, the owner and dealer principal of Carolina Auto Sales in Myrtle Beach, Kevin Pendergrass began working at the dealership in 1999, and in 2003 he purchased it from the previous owner. Since that time, he has built a solid business selling quality affordable vehicles to thousands of customers across the Grand Strand region of South Carolina; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Pendergrass began his automotive career at the age of 19 in West Virginia, where he lived at the time. When he opened his first business there, he was the youngest licensed independent automobile dealer in the history of West Virginia. Today, he is joined in his dealership operation by his stepdaughters and other team members; and

 

Whereas, as a strong advocate for dealer education, Kevin Pendergrass has worked to ensure the integrity of his trade. He is a longtime member of CIADA and NIADA. Further, he has served as a member of the CIADA Executive Committee in numerous roles, including president and chairman, and currently serves on the CIADA Service Corporation Board. He is the recipient of seven NIADA Silver Eagle Awards for membership promotion and growth; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Pendergrass and Carolina Auto Sales represent the essence of small business in South Carolina. The dealership represents thousands of other similar businesses that provide millions of dollars of economic impact into the local economy while providing jobs to countless numbers of South Carolinians; and

 

Whereas, the General Assembly takes great pleasure in saluting Kevin Pendergrass as the 2022-2023 CIADA Quality Dealer of the Year. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

 

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Kevin Pendergrass of Myrtle Beach on being selected as the 2022-2023 Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association Quality Dealer of the Year.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Kevin Pendergrass.
