VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A bill
TO AMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS BY ADDING SECTION 17-1-15 so as to provide a charge of driving under the influence where great bodily injury or death occurs may not be nolle prossed or dismissed without the consent of the attorney general.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 17 of the S.C. Code is amended by adding:
Section 17-1-15. A charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or another unlawful substance that results in great bodily injury or death may not be nolle prossed or dismissed by a solicitor without the consent of the Attorney General.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
