VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A house RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND THE MEYER CENTER FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF GREENVILLE COUNTY AND TO CONGRATULATE THE CENTER ON THE OCCASION OF ITS SEVENTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Meyer Center for Special Children, incorporated on February 24, 1954, is celebrating its seventieth anniversary of serving Greenville-area special needs children in 2024; and
Whereas, Dr. Leslie Meyer founded the Meyer Center with a vision to enrich the lives of children with disabilities and help them reach their maximum potential; and
Whereas, since the Meyer Center's inception, the organization has served more than thirteen hundred children in Greenville County and beyond, helping bridge the gap between children with disabilities and their typical same-age peers; and
Whereas, as the only center in the area that offers education and combined therapies under one roof, an arrangement that makes life easier for the children's families, the Meyer Center is uniquely positioned to serve special needs children in and around Greenville; and
Whereas, moreover, providing intensive services at a young age can change the trajectory of a child's long-term potential in education, employment, and independent living; and
Whereas, appreciative of the Meyer Center and the immeasurable impact it has had on the lives of special needs children and their families in our State, the House takes great pleasure in saluting the center at the celebration of its rich seventy-year history. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend the Meyer Center for Special Children for its outstanding service to the citizens of Greenville County and congratulate the center on the occasion of its seventieth anniversary.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Meyer Center for Special Children.
