A house RESOLUTION

 

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF DELMAR BRYANT PATTERSON OF lancaster COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LARGE AND LOVING FAMILY AND HIS MANY FRIENDS.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Delmar Bryant Patterson at the age of thirty-eight on Tuesday, March 12, 2024; and

 

Whereas, born in Takoma Park, Maryland, on September 9, 1985, he was the son of Ulrich Patterson and the late Thelma Beckham Patterson, and he was reared in a loving home with his brother Ulria Beckham and his sister Jessica Eargle; and

 

Whereas, he received his education in the public schools of Lancaster County and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 2003 where he played football, basketball, and baseball, receiving numerous awards for his remarkable talent in sports and for his leadership; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Patterson earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Limestone College while playing college baseball at Limestone, and he earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Western Governors University, while dealing with illness; and

 

Whereas, dedicated to giving back to his community, Mr. Patterson visited nursing homes, creating activities for the residents to help bring smiles to their faces, and he participated in numerous neighborhood projects that involved helping those in need; and

 

Whereas, he touched many lives through his various places of employment, such as 007 Bonds, the Department of Social Services, York Technical College, Boys and Girls Club, FedEx, Great Falls High School, Research and Development, Andrew Jackson Middle School, and Andrew Jackson High School; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Patterson was the CEO and founder of 8scape Bail Bonds, servicing the State of South Carolina for over ten years. Always involved in sports, he coached baseball, football, and basketball at Andrew Jackson High School and developed a brotherhood among coaches; and

 

Whereas, he extended his coaching career with one of the top AAU teams known as Upward Stars Pee Dee. Through his experience with Upward Stars, he received numerous awards and recognition and was being promoted to coach on the elite team, Upward Stars Southeast, sponsored by Adidas; and

 

Whereas, a faithful member of First Kershaw Baptist Church, Mr. Patterson served the congregation as an usher and trustee member, and in spite of his long eighteen year battle with illness, he encouraged others and found comfort himself in God's word, Christian fellowship, and traditional hymns that he loved; and

 

Whereas, together with his beloved wife, Anita Patterson, he had two fine sons, DeShaun Jace Patterson and Draylen Bryce Patterson; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the life of Delmar Patterson and for the bright smile, encouragement, and love he had for all who knew him. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Delmar Bryant Patterson of Lancaster County and extend their deepest sympathy to his large and loving family and his many friends.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Delmar Bryant Patterson.
