A house RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE WANDO HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING BAND, BAND DIRECTORS, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON A STELLAR SEASON AND TO CELEBRATE THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAAAA MARCHING BAND STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the Wando High School marching band added another remarkable chapter to its storied legacy on November 4, 2023, at Colleton County High School. Competing in the AAAAA category, which represents the largest high schools in South Carolina, Wando secured its fifteenth state championship title in an event that featured a total of twenty-two bands from across the State; and
Whereas, in the preliminary competition, Wando earned a superior rating, claiming first place in the Marching Band Lower State Championship. The top twelve scoring bands advanced to the finals competition; and
Whereas, the Wando High School marching band delivered an outstanding performance during the finals, securing the top position with a score of 93.8 and earning all caption awards for High Music Performance, High Visual Performance, and High Overall Effect; and
Whereas, Wando Director of Bands Bobby Lambert proudly watched as his musicians played their way to the top and earned the right to display hardware only champions get to take home. Director Lambert is supported in his labors by Associate Director Lanie Radecke and Dr. Andrew Blair, the band's new associate director, now in his first year; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House appreciates the pride and recognition the Wando High School marching band has brought to its school and community, and the members look forward to hearing of further accomplishments by the band and its talented musicians. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Wando High School marching band, band directors, and school officials on a stellar season and celebrate them for winning the South Carolina Class AAAAA Marching Band State Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Chas Coker and Director of Bands Bobby Lambert of Wando High School.
