A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE HEATHWOOD HALL GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2024 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Heathwood Hall girls track and field team, continuing their dominance, captured the 2024 South Carolina Independent School Association state championship at the state meet, held on Saturday, May 4, 2024; and

Whereas, to the joyful shouts of their exuberant fans, the Lady Highlanders defeated a fine field of comers with a score of 113, besting their nearest competitor, Porter Gaud, by 10 points. It was a back-to-back state victory for Heathwood; and

Whereas, the Highlanders, who won the SCISA Division I championship at Porter Gaud, took home their fifth title in the last seven years; and

Whereas, Sabreya Monsanto led the way for Heathwood, winning the high jump (5-2), long jump (16-7), and triple jump (35-8). Madelyn Gomez (11:34) won the 3,200, and the Highlanders won the 4x800 relay; and

Whereas, in a sport that requires versatility, stamina, and power, Head Coach Willis Ware and his skilled coaching staff used their own athletic ability and training to build a championship team and teach these athletes life principles that will endure beyond the tracks; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the respect and pleasure that the Lady Highlanders track and field athletes have brought to their school and  community, and the members look forward to hearing of their future success in the days to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Heathwood Hall girls track and field team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2024 South Carolina Independent School Association Class 3A State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head of School Chris Hinchey and Head Coach Willis Ware.
