A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR BECKY BUDDS, A POLITICAL AND GENERAL ASSIGNMENT REPORTER WITH WLTX, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS AS SHE LEAVES Columbia to start a new career in Charlotte.
Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives should pause in their deliberations to express their gratitude to Becky Budds for her significant contributions to journalism in the Midlands; and
Whereas, the news director of her school radio station, Radio DePaul, Becky Budds earned dual bachelor's degrees in broadcast journalism and public relations from DePaul University and was the recipient of a NATAS Scholarship and the DePaul University Excellence in Journalism Award; and
Whereas, she began her career at WLTX News19 in December 2021; and
Whereas, a member of the State House Press Corps since she first came to Columbia, Ms. Budds has covered hurricanes, presidential primaries, and the historic overturning of Roe v. Wade; and
Whereas, some of her favorite stories have included the University of South Carolina Women's Basketball Championships and the South Carolina State Fair; and
Whereas, Ms. Budds hopes to pursue further career opportunities in public relations so she can continue telling people's stories; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful for the dedication that Becky Budds has given to reporting in Columbia, and the members wish her many years of fulfillment as she pursues her career in public relations. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Becky Budds, a political and general assignment reporter with WLTX, and wish her continued success and happiness in her future endeavors as she leaves Columbia to start a new career in Charlotte.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Becky Budds.
