Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is deeply grateful for the work that SkillsUSA does in partnership with students, teachers, and industries to ensure a skilled workforce across America; and
Whereas, a national nonprofit educational association, SkillsUSA serves students in middle and high schools and in college and postsecondary institutions to prepare them for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations, including health occupations; and
Whereas, SkillsUSA serves almost four hundred thousand students and instructors annually, including twenty thousand instructors who join as professional members. Counting its vast alumni involvement, membership totals almost four hundred fifty thousand; and
Whereas, SkillsUSA has served nearly fourteen million annual members cumulatively since 1965 and is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the United States Department of Labor as a successful model of employer-driven workforce development; and
Whereas, celebrated in February each year, SkillsUSA Week is a time for members to help raise awareness about SkillsUSA and gives state associations, advisors, and student members the opportunity to promote SkillsUSA programs and activities at the local and state levels; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate values the work of SkillsUSA to prepare a skilled workforce and urges all South Carolinians to become informed of this significant organization. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
