A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE THE Bethune-Bowman High School basketball team on a strong season and honor them for playing in the 2024 state championship.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Bethune-Bowman High School basketball team for their remarkably strong showing this season and for playing a strong game in the 2024 state championship; and

 

Whereas, the team's remarkable achievements, including clinching the Region 7A Championship and Lower State Championship, and the individual accolades garnered by players such as Derik Simon, Terrane McFadden, Jacroi Judson, Bryson Robinson, and Torey "Ta'Jay" Elliot, reflect their exceptional talent, dedication, and commitment to excellence; and

 

Whereas, Bethune-Bowman High School's basketball team displayed extraordinary skill and determination throughout the playoffs, defeating formidable opponents such as Green Sea Floyds High School, Burke High School, and Cross High School, defeating each of these teams to achieve the next level; and

 

Whereas, their triumphs in the playoffs propelled them to the state championship game, showcasing their resilience, teamwork, and unwavering dedication to success; and

 

Whereas, with an exceptional season overall, the team had a record of 9-0 going into the championship game; and

 

Whereas, the Bethune-Bowman High School basketball team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Coach Charles McCray and his coaching staff; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Bethune-Bowman High School basketball team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Bethune-Bowman High School basketball team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for playing in the 2024 state championship.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Bethune-Bowman High School basketball team, Coach Charles McCray, and Principal Lakekia Lewis.
