A senate RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE Paula B. China UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HER FOR HER twenty-eight YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Paula B. China upon the occasion of her retirement as principal of L. W. Conder Arts Integrated Magnet School; and
Whereas, Principal China was born to parents Industry Brunson and the late Reverend William Brunson. She is an alumna of Benedict College where she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1995. She earned her Master's in Elementary Education from Columbia College and her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College in 2007; and
Whereas, Principal China began her career in education as a teacher with Richland District Two in 1995 at Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School where she taught second grade and third grade. In 2002, she began teaching third grade at Forest Lake Elementary School, and in 2007 she was promoted to Assistant Principal; and
Whereas, in 2011, Principal China transitioned to L. W. Conder Arts Integrated Magnet School under the principalship of Dr. Shirley Watson and alongside Assistant Principal, Mr. Chris Reliford. While at L. W. Conder, she worked under Dr. Shawn Suber and alongside Mrs. Connie May until 2015 when she was selected as the principal; and
Whereas, under the leadership of Principal China, L. W. Conder Arts Integrated Magnet School has continued to make academic gains to maintain the school's report card rating and art magnet school status with Magnet Schools of America. She is revered as a champion of the school; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that Principal China has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Paula B. China upon the occasion of her retirement, commend her for her twenty-eight years of dedicated service, and wish her much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Paula B. China.
