A house RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR GINNY JONES, A PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER AT JAMES ISLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, AND TO CONGRATULATE HER UPON BEING NAMED THE TEACHER OF THE YEAR AT JAMES ISLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Ginny Jones has been named Teacher of the Year at James Island Elementary School; and

Whereas, a native of Charleston, Ms. Jones earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a minor in secondary education from Charleston Southern University in 2007 and a master's degree in health, exercise, and sport science from The Citadel; and

Whereas, she began her career in education at Murray-LaSaine Elementary School and was the assistant cheer coach at West Ashley High School. Three years later, she transferred to St. Andrew's School of Math and Science where she taught physical education and coached elementary track for ten years; and

Whereas, now in her sixteenth year of teaching in Charleston County, she has been teaching at James Island Elementary school for three years where her two sons attend school. She is thrilled to share her passion for health, wellness, and exercise and to educate students to be physically active for life; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives value the work of educators in our State, like Ginny Jones, who dedicate themselves to preparing our youth to be productive citizens. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Ginny Jones, a physical education teacher at James Island Elementary School, and to congratulate her upon being named the Teacher of the Year at James Island Elementary School.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ginny Jones.
