A house RESOLUTION

 

to recognize and honor Kate hopkins, a good Samaritan in Annapolis, Maryland, whose impact was felt by her "neighbor" in south carolina.

 

Whereas, on December 9, 2023, a fan of the Army-Navy football game and rivalry traveled from South Carolina to the colder clime in Annapolis, Maryland, to enjoy the game. That fan was none other than our colleague, Representative Bruce Bannister; and

 

Whereas, unbeknownst to Representative Bannister when he was getting out of the Uber, his wallet fell out of the car and into the street. He later called the Uber driver who did not have the wallet; and

 

Whereas, driver Kate Hopkins from her car saw the wallet on the side of the road and stopped her car in order to get out and retrieve it. Upon learning his identity, she googled his name and learned that he is a partner at Bannister Wyatt in Greenville. She contacted his office to let him know who had his wallet and where she could be located; and

 

Whereas, Representative Bannister was able to retrieve his wallet from Ms. Hopkins who had done a good deed for someone she never had met, the very definition of a good Samaritan. Without citizens of such good will, all the laws of legislatures in this good land will come to naught. Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

 

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Kate Hopkins, a good Samaritan in Annapolis, Maryland, whose impact was felt by her "neighbor" in South Carolina.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Kate Hopkins.
