To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 4965) to request the Department of Transportation name the junction at Lockhart Road and Keys Lane in Kershaw County "Commissioner David E. Branham, Sr. Intersection", etc., respectfully

A concurrent RESOLUTION
TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION NAME THE JUNCTION AT LOCKHART ROAD AND KEYS LANE IN KERSHAW COUNTY "COMMISSIONER DAVID E. BRANHAM, SR. INTERSECTION" AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS AT THIS LOCATION CONTAINING THESE WORDS.
Whereas, the Honorable David E. "Gene" Branham, Sr., has been a resident of Kershaw County for more that forty-eight years. He is married to Gail Branham and together they are the proud parents of three children; and
Whereas, Mr. Branham worked for Lynches River Electric Cooperative, Inc. for forty-five years in various capacities, including lineman, line foreman, and line superintendent. He also served in the South Carolina National Guard for six years; and
Whereas, Mr. Branham served on the Kershaw County Transportation Committee for nineteen years. He served as chairman for fifteen of those years; and
Whereas, in 2016, he was appointed commissioner for the South Carolina Department of Transportation's Fifth Congressional District. In 2022, he was named its chairman; and
Whereas, Chairman Branham and his wife are active members of Providence Baptist Church where he serves as deacon; and
Whereas, it would be fitting and proper to recognize the accomplishments of Chairman Branham by naming an intersection in Kershaw County in his honor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, request the Department of Transportation name the junction at Lockhart Road and Keys Lane in Kershaw County "Commissioner David E. Branham, Sr. Intersection" and erect appropriate markers or signs at this location containing these words.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Department of Transportation.
