A house RESOLUTION
To express profound sorrow upon the passing of Ashley Michelle Brown and her son, Prince Tion, and to extend the deepest sympathy to their family and friends.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ashley Michelle Brown and her son, Prince Tion, on April 8, 2024; and
Whereas, Ashley Michelle Brown was born on April 9, 1989, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She lived a beautiful life full of love, joy, and immeasurable happiness. She began her walk with Christ at an early age, and attended Parkers Grove Baptist Church in New London, North Carolina, where she was a member of the children's choir. After relocating to Columbia, South Carolina, Ashley was baptized at Ridgewood Missionary Baptist Church; and
Whereas, Ashley began her education in the public schools of North Carolina and continued her education in the public schools of Richland County after relocating to Columbia. After completing high school, Ashley became a successful dental hygienist assistant at Palmetto Dental Services, where she was employed for over fifteen years. She furthered her career in the medical field by attending school to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA). As a CNA, she touched the lives of many and was very caring of her patients; and
Whereas, after many years in the medical field, Ashley decided to pursue a career in cosmetology. She enrolled in the Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology in 2021 and graduated in November of 2023. Using what she learned, she solidified her mark in the beauty industry and took her business, AMB Styles, to the next level; and
Whereas, Ashley's greatest accomplishment in life was becoming a mother. She was the epitome of a selfless mother and understood the power of love. She knew that obedience was better than sacrifice, especially when it came to raising her first true love, Harmony; and
Whereas, Ashley was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Lewis Gramling, and grandparents, Harold Lee and Pearl Brown and Bart and Bell Gramling, Sr. Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her daughter, Harmony Gabriel Brown; mother, Jennifer (Chris) Crosby; fiancé, Torrence S. Scott; two adopted daughters, Miniyah and Sherri-Lyn Campbell; three brothers, Javares Gramling, Christopher (Heather) McLendon, Jr., and Justin Gramling; four sisters, Kimberly R. Brown, Chemise Gramling, Shaquana (Linwood) Cuttino-Jones, Sr., and Persephone (Thurman) Zimmerman, Jr.; five aunts, Betty Porter, Seretha Gramling, Geraldine Wilson, Julia Kendell, and Patricia Lockheart; six uncles, Harold (Donna) Brown, Bart Gramling, Jr., John Gramling, Nap Gramling, Chuck (Tommie) Gramling, and Stacey Brown; one grand-aunt, Rhonda Covington; two godchildren, Eboni Spain and Ba'Sile Cuttino; five special cousins, Rogina Gramling, Tenaya "Nelly Bell" Brown, Courtney Brown, David Cunningham, and Christopher "Petey" (Durre) Brown; three best friends, Tiffany Harris, Geneva "Shugie" Cuttino, and Stacy (Dominic) Stroman; one godsister, Luciana North; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the passing of Ashley Michelle Brown and her unborn son, Prince Tion, and extend the deepest sympathy to their family and friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ashely Michelle Brown and Prince Tion.
