A senate RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE Daniel High School boys soccer TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS 3a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the Daniel High School boys soccer team for winning the South Carolina Class 3A boys soccer state championship on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Irmo High School; and
Whereas, this historic win marks the program's second consecutive state championship and sixth state championship in school history; and
Whereas, in the championship game, Daniel High School defeated Beaufort High School by a score of 3-0; and
Whereas, with an exceptional season overall, the team had a record of 19-4 going into the championship game; and
Whereas, the team performed outstandingly, scoring all three game goals in the first half and never letting in an opposing goal. Goals were scored by Luka Gasic, Eddie Merck, and Kenny Walton-Flores; and
Whereas, the Daniel High School boys soccer team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of first-year head coach Thomas Izaguirre; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the Daniel High School boys soccer team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Daniel High School boys soccer team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South Carolina Class 3A boys soccer state championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Daniel High School boys soccer team, Coach Thomas Izaguirre and Principal Gary Culler.
