A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE peyton o'brien ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR her FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS 3A individual STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize senior Peyton O'Brien for winning the South Carolina Class 3A individual state championship in October of 2023 in Conway; and

 

Whereas, this historic win solidified O'Brien's standing as the most decorated golfer in D.W. Daniel High School golf program history; and

 

Whereas, with an exceptional season and career overall, O'Brien's victory marked a fitting end to her six years with the D.W. Daniel High School girls' golf team. Her career began when she was in seventh grade, and from the start she contributed to State titles for the team. She has earned All-State honors each of the last five years; and

 

Whereas, over the course of the two-day tournament, D.W. Daniel High School shot a collective 687 to finish second behind Waccamaw High School; and

 

Whereas, O'Brien has flourished under the guidance of head coach Andy Swords, who was thrilled and unsurprised by O'Brien's state championship; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that Peyton O'Brien has brought to her school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the talented athlete.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Peyton O'Brien on an outstanding season and honor her for winning the South Carolina Class 3A individual state championship.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Peyton O'Brien, Coach Andy Swords, and Principal Adam Russell.
