A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE Maceo Nance UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS many YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE to the people and the state of south carolina, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Maceo Nance upon the occasion of his retirement; and

 

Whereas, during Mr. Nance's long tenure, he made a significant impact on the state's economic and community development efforts. He held many roles and spearheaded nearly every rural initiative for the Department of Commerce and the former State Development Board; and

 

Whereas, Mr. Nance was instrumental to the growth of the South Carolina Rural Summit, which will soon celebrate its thirty-fifth year. He created the curriculum for the South Carolina Economic Developer's Institute and Advance Symposium cohorts. These programs have trained and equipped hundreds of economic development professionals and local government officials around the State; and

 

Whereas, one of Mr. Nance's most recent endeavors was the Rural Initiative, authorized by the General Assembly in 2019, whereby sixty-five million dollars was to be dispersed to fourteen rural counties to facilitate economic development and infrastructure improvements; and

 

Whereas, over the years, Mr. Nance has received a number of honors and awards, including the Order of the Palmetto, which Governor McMaster awarded him last year; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the passion and dedication that Mr. Nance has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Maceo Nance upon the occasion of his retirement, commend him for his many years of dedicated service to the people and the State of South Carolina, and wish him much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Maceo Nance.
