A senate RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR Pastor herry mansel jr. and to congratulate him on the event of his installation.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to recognize Pastor Herry Mansel Jr. on the occasion of his installation as reverend; and
Whereas, Pastor Mansel is the son of Ebbie Lou Mansel and the late Nathan H. Mansel. He attended public schools in the Greenwood School System and then went on to attend Piedmont Technical College, where he pursued a degree in criminal justice. Upon the completion of his first year at Piedmont Technical College, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps; and
Whereas, Pastor Mansel completed basic training with the Marines and was assigned to Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, from where he completed two tours in Libya and Bierut Lebanon; and
Whereas, on February 14, 1981, Pastor Mansel accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior while at Camp LeJeune. After his return home from service, he answered the call to ministry on February 14, 1988, at Holy Springs Baptist Church; and
Whereas, in October of 1988, Pastor Mansel began his first pastorate at the Second Damascus Baptist Church in Greenwood. He served there for eight years and was ordained by the Little Ricer Baptist Association in Greenwood; and
Whereas, while pastoring the Second Damascus Baptist Church, Pastor Mansel also served as the executive director of the Greenwood Chapter of the American Red Cross. He also enrolled in Lander University in Greenwood, where he majored in Inter-Disciplinary Studies with a concentration in Religion; and
Whereas, Pastor Mansel is married to Sandra E. Mansel, and together, they have three daughters, Jassica, Chandler, and Chelsea, as well as a son, Jerel, who passed away; and
Whereas, in his free time, he enjoys playing golf and watching football. He is a San Fransico 49ers fan and Florida State University fan, and his favorite golfer is Scottie Scheffler; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate greatly appreciate the dedication and commitment that Pastor Mansel has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor Pastor Herry Mansel Jr. and congratulate him on the event of his installation.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor Mansel.
