A senate RESOLUTION

 

TO CONGRATULATE THE South Florence high school Boys Football team, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO HONOR THEM FOR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AAA 2024 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is proud to recognize the South Florence High School boys football team for winning the South Carolina Class AAA 2024 state championship on December 13, 2024; and

 

Whereas, this historic win marks the program's second state championship title in three years; and

 

Whereas, in the championship game, South Florence High School defeated Westside High School by a score of 42-41; and

 

Whereas, during the fourth quarter of the title game, South Florence captured a 42-35 lead, and Westside responded with a touchdown, but the Rams' two-point conversion pass was knocked down. The Bruins handed Westside their first loss in twenty-seven games, giving South Florence a season record of 12-3; and

 

Whereas, the South Florence High School boys football team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Coach Drew Marlowe; and

 

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate appreciate the pride and recognition that the South Florence High School boys football team has brought to its school and community and look forward to a future filled with further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes.  Now, therefore,

 

Be it resolved by the Senate:

 

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the South Florence High School boys football team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the South Carolina Class AAA 2024 state championship.

 

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the South Florence High School boys football team, Coach Drew Marlowe, and Principal Shand Josey.
