VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
to express the intention of the South Carolina General Assembly to ensure legislation introduced in the one hundred twenty-sixth South Carolina General Assembly clearly articulates its true intent as it pertains to matters of certain public importance, and to characterize this intention as the "cradle to grave commitment."
Whereas, the General Assembly introduces hundreds of bills in each legislative session that affect the lives and wellbeing of everyone in South Carolina; and
Whereas, in a commitment to the people we serve, the General Assembly finds it appropriate to articulate a firm commitment to expressing the intention behind each legislative measure in an honest, clear, straightforward manner that instills public confidence in its elected officials and the legislative process; and
Whereas, such a commitment must require that legislation specify its true intent with respect to childbirth, healthcare, education, jobs, and overall public wellness. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, unequivocally state its intention to ensure legislation introduced in the one hundred twenty-sixth South Carolina General Assembly clearly articulates its true intent as it pertains to matters of public importance including, but not limited to, childbirth, healthcare, education, jobs, and overall public wellness in all stages of life, and to characterize this intention as the "cradle to grave commitment."
