A house RESOLUTION

TO congratulate the Gray Collegiate Academy cheer team, Coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and to honor them for winning the 2024 south carolina class AAAA state championship.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is proud to recognize the Gray Collegiate Academy Lady War Eagles varsity cheerleaders for winning the South Carolina Class AAAA state championship on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Colonial Life Arena; and

Whereas, this historic victory marks the program's first Class AAAA championship win and its third consecutive state title, having won the last two Class AA titles. The team took first place in every cheer competition in which they competed during the season; and

Whereas, a West Columbia high school, Gray Collegiate soared above all its opponents with a score of 285.5 in a field of seventeen teams competing for the state crown; and

Whereas, the Gray Collegiate Academy cheer team has flourished under the leadership and guidance of Coach Griffin Woods; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition that the Gray Collegiate Academy cheer team has brought to its school and community, and the members anticipate with pleasure hearing of further accomplishments by the team and its talented athletes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Gray Collegiate Academy cheer team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding season and honor them for winning the 2024 South Carolina Class AAAA state championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Brian Newsome and Coach Griffin Woods of Gray Collegiate Academy.
