A house RESOLUTION
TO CELEBRATE THE PELION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ARCHERY TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR A SUPERB SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2024 NATIONAL ARCHERY IN THE SCHOOLS PROGRAM (NASP) IBO/3D NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DIVISION.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is delighted to learn that the Pelion Elementary School archery team captured the top prize at the 2024 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) IBO/3D National Championship Tournament (Elementary School Division), held June 6-8, 2024, in Daytona Beach, Florida; and
Whereas, it was a sweet victory for the Panthers: They claimed the national title with 1,616 points, proving their mettle in combined events that included 2,970 archers from thirty-nine states. Further, team member Laycee Morphy was an individual IBO/3D award winner, taking home third place in the Elementary School Division (Girls) with a score of 279; and
Whereas, in addition, the Pelion Elementary Bullseye team placed third in the 2024 NASP National Bullseye Championship, Elementary School Division, with a score of 3,151. In that event, Laycee Morphy earned a score of 292 and first-place honors in the girls' competition as an individual Bullseye award winner; and
Whereas, prior to the national championship, the Pelion archers attended the 2024 NASP Eastern National IBO/3D Challenge in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 11, 2024. There, they upheld their high reputation, finishing the competition as IBO/3D champions with a score of 1,657. In so doing, they set a new school record and ended as the only elementary team to break 1,600; and
Whereas, Head Coach Nicole Shumpert and her able assistant coaches, AnnaLee Clark and Cassie Boatwright, proudly watched as their athletes shot their way to the top and earned the right to titles and other awards only champions get to take home; and
Whereas, with admiration, the South Carolina House of Representatives salutes the Pelion Elementary archers, who have garnered respect and honor for their school and community through the excellence of their performance. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, celebrate the Pelion Elementary School archery team, coaches, and school officials for a superb season and congratulate them on winning the 2024 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) IBO/3D National Championship title in the Elementary School Division.
