A house RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF DR. VICTOR EDWARD TERRANA OF NEWBERRY AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Victor Edward Terrana of Newberry on June 4, 2024, at the venerable age of 78; and

Whereas, born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 13, 1945, Victor Edward Terrana was a son of the late Michael Woodrow Terrana and the late Helen Veronica Sawicki; and

Whereas, affectionately known as "Vic," the young Victor Edward matured into a multigifted mathematician and professor in mathematics and computer science at Newberry College. Vic obtained his doctorate in mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago; and

Whereas, within the community of Newberry, he was a part of several organizations, including the Newberry Rotary Club, Newberry Historical Society, Newberry Republican Party, and Newberry County Planning and Commission Board. A member of the Pistol Club, he often could be found selling knives at various gun shows; and

Whereas, Vic had a fond appreciation for all sorts of gadgets, trinkets, and puzzles, but above all, he loved problem-solving. In addition, he enjoyed traveling with his dear wife, especially when venturing out to sea on cruises. Most memorable among his vacation destinations was Nassau, where he and his wife spent their honeymoon; and

Whereas, a genuine, kind, charismatic, and often funny man, Vic lived his life conveying this message: always give from the heart. Over the course of his life, he was always proudest of his family, especially his two boys and grandchildren; and

Whereas, preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Terrana, and his nephew, Terry Scott Terrana, Vic Terrana leaves to cherish his memory his wife of fifty-seven years, Margaret "Marge" Terrana; his sons, Karl Terrana and Tony Terrana; his grandchildren, Carmen and Ethan Terrana; special family, Veronica Gomez; his brother, Terry Terrana (Clara); his sister-in-law, Susie Beardsley (Gary); his nieces, Amanda Acevedo, Joy Beardsley, Janette Masterson, Kimberly Kennedy, and Tami Terrana; and his nephew, Adam Beardsley. He will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Dr. Victor Edward Terrana of Newberry and extend the deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family.
