VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Fairfield Central High School Boys Track TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2024 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Fairfield Central track team captured the state title at the state meet held at Lower Richland High School on May 18, 2024; and
Whereas, to the delight of their exuberant fans, the Fairfield Central Griffins defeated a competitive field of forty-two teams with a 25-point margin over the nearest challenger to earn the state trophy; and
Whereas, sixteen athletes qualified for the state meet from the Fairfield Central team. Kristian Golden, a long jumper, was the only senior among the sixteen qualifiers, a statistic that leaves the team with potential for coming years; and
Whereas, the Griffin's sophomore Jaden Boyd won three individual gold medals at the meet, and he ran a leg on a second-place relay team and produced thirty-two of his team's gold medal points. The other gold medal winner for Fairfield Central was junior Hank White who won for the second straight year in the 800-meters; and
Whereas, in a sport consisting of a group of individuals performing a wide range of skills at a high level for the good of the team, Head Coach Raymond Harrison and his skilled coaching staff maximized their own athletic ability and training to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes life principles that will endure beyond the tracks; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition that the Fairfield Central track team has brought to the school and the community, and the members look forward to following the team's continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Fairfield Central High School boys track team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2024 South Carolina Class AA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Tracie Swilley, principal, and to Coach Raymond Harrison.
