VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
A concurrent RESOLUTION
to recognize the members and coaches of the Loris High School football team and to congratulate them on a remarkable 2024 season.
Whereas, from the opening days of practice in the summer of 2024, the Loris High School Lions football team found growing confidence that a special season was unfolding; and
Whereas, head coach Greg Mance understood that challenges and obstacles faced his team, but he knew what they were capable of accomplishing. As the season progressed and the wins started piling up, the Lions found themselves 9-1 overall and 5-0 in AAA Region 5 play as the regular season ended; and
Whereas, prior to the lower state championship, the Lions' stingy defense allowed an average of just 206 yards and ten points per game. The offense racked up points, outscoring opponents 275-64 points in the first half of the regular season. Running back Deuce Stephens averaged 8.2 yards per rush with 16 total touchdowns, and quarterback Zamire "Moon" Gerald passed for 1605 yards, tossed 19 touchdowns, and threw only two interceptions for the prolific Lions offense; and
Whereas, in the playoffs, the Lions took down the Hannahan Hawks 28-21 and the Keenan Raiders 30-14 before finishing as runner's up in the semifinals, bringing a thrilling 11-2 season to a close and giving the Lions a solid foundation for another strong run at the championship next season. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize the members of the Loris High School football team and congratulate them on a remarkable 2024 season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Jimmy McCullough and head coach Greg Mance.
